Coaching Requirements

2024 Softball PEI Coaching Information

Below are the coaching requirements for the various levels and age categories of Softball PEI for the 2023 softball season.

If you are coaching Club Level and/or A teams at U7, U9, U11 (and AA), U13, U15, U17, U19 levels

1. Complete the Foundations of Coaching Part 1 (online - $10)

2. Complete Make Ethical Decisions
   Many of the NCCP modules are available for Home Study but not all. Please contact Softball PEI or Sport PEI for more information (Lynn Boudreau lboudreau@sportpei.ca) ($50)
3. Complete Safe Sport Training (via The Locker - Free)
4. After completing Step 1 and 2 you are able to attend an Ongoing Participation Softball Course. ($100) held on the following dates:
   1. June 1st - Donagh School
   2. Another Date TBD

If you are coaching Club AA level at the U13, U15, 17 level, attending an Eastern Canadian or Canadian Championship.

2. Complete Make Ethical Decisions

3. After completing Step 1 and 2 you are able to attend both required weekends for Competition - Introduction Weekend 1 and 2 ($125 each) held on the following dates;
   1. May 4-5^th - Comp Intro Weekend 1 - Donagh School
   2. June 8-9^th - Comp Intro Weekend 2 - Three Oaks High School
4. Complete Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation - This is can be completed as soon as the coach has completed the course.
5. Complete Safe Sport Training (via The Locker - Free)
6. Certification - Required for Head Coach for teams attending Canadian Championships;
   2. Coaching Portfolio - this will be provided during Competition - Introduction Weekend 1 and needs to be submitted by the Saturday morning of Competition - Introduction Weekend 2.
   3. Practice Plan - submitted two weeks prior to practice evaluation
   4. Practice evaluation - based on the submitted practice plan.
   5. Cost - $80 plus mileage (Governmet rate) for the Coaching Portfolio + Practice Plan + Practice Evaluation.
